['lɪvɪȖ 'njuːspeɪpə; englisch »lebende Zeitung«], mit dokumentarischen Mitteln arbeitende Form des politischen Lehrstücks, die sich in den USA aus dem russischen Agitproptheater und dem epischen Theater entwickelte und auf Massenaufklärung zielte. Living-Newspaper-Produktionen wurden 1936-39 besonders vom Federal Theatre Project, der staatlichen Arbeitsbeschaffungsmaßnahme für arbeitslose Theaterleute, gezeigt, z. B. »Triple A plowed under« (1936) über Probleme der Farmer und der Lebensmittelverteilung sowie »One third of a nation« (1938) über die Armut in der Depressionszeit. Das Living Newspaper griff Material aus Presse, Wochenschau und Film auf und bediente sich kinematographischer Mittel, um in einer Mischung aus dramatischer Handlung, direkter Ansprache und Faktendarlegung soziale Probleme aufzuzeigen und Lösungen vorzuschlagen.
